Best boudoir studio rentals in Denver
Hey! Though I’m based up in Longmont and many of my boudoir sessions are outdoors, I do love to shoot in studios! Especially when the weather’s not great haha. Below I’ve got an overview of what I look for in a studio and a handful of my go-to spots in Denver.
What I’m looking for
Light
Light is everything. Hard to overstate it! When you’re shooting natural light photos like we’ll be doing, the amount and quality of it are crucial for picking a good studio.
My favorites have a bunch of huge windows, and sheer curtains to help soften all that light coming in if needed. White walls, white floors, white ceilings — we want to get that light bouncing around and don’t want any strange colors in the mix.
Space to work
Alright we’ve got light — now we need enough space to put it to use!
Working distance, the space between me and you during the shoot, is really important for both personal space and creative reasons too. There are definitely times when I’ll be close to you shooting closer-up shots, but it’s so nice to not need to.
You’re gonna be moving around a good amount during your session — flow, improvisation, movement — these things keep your session from becoming static or about holding some perfect pose. Easier and more fun with some space for you to move.
Lastly — tall ceilings also lend an openness to sessions, and keep things from feeling claustrophobic or cramped.
Decor/vibe
This stuff is so subjective! But I look for places that fit a minimal, modern aesthetic — in layout, furniture, and colors. Places that feel fresh, neutral, and don’t distract. I love warm, blank slates.
I generally skip over places that rely on pre-built sets/scenes, or that lean too heavily into a faux-luxury aesthetic. I want to keep the focus of the session and photos on you.
I also love cyc walls! They’re just blank, white, sloping vertical walls that are awesome to incorporate into a session. I often start sessions here, away from all distractions.
Rate for two hours
Price is a factor for most people! There are great options for around $100/hr and I’ve never felt the need to suggest anything drastically more expensive. Those spaces often have more amenities, included equipment and room than we really need.
Variety
It’s nice when a space is set up for distinct shooting scenes — cyc wall, couch, bed, brick wall, industrial area, outdoor patio, makeup room, etc.
It really helps mix things up around the space.
