Mckenzie

For half of my lifetime I have struggled with my image, the woman that I saw in the mirror. I never felt like I fit the criteria of the world around me.

Arms are too big.
Waist is swishy.
Thighs are too jiggly.
Acne and wound scars.
Chewed up fingernails.
Less than perky boobs.

I’d tear that reflection apart.

It has taken so much time and effort to tear down the societal expectations and what I saw to be “desirable” to truly see the woman in that reflection. To truly appreciate the healthy body she was gifted. To truly feel empowered in her skin.

Her arms are strong.
Her curves are stunningly beautiful.
Her legs are powerful.
Her scars show that she has overcome her past.
Her hands prove she works hard and doesn’t give up.

This body tells a long and beautifully difficult story of a journey to love and acceptance, one that I am still writing.
